Finding patterns in fabric

With some fabric, you can just look at it and see how easily you can make patterns using fussy cutting (cutting a specific part of the design) and symmetrical shapes. Other fabric, it’s not something that would immediately come to mind. Take this fabric for example

Yes, there are repeating elements from the fabric, but nothing jumps out that much as being a source of an interesting image. But the colours were right for the William Morris Galaxy that I’m working on. So I thought I’d try anyway. And just look at the patterns I got for the stars made from 60 degree diamonds.

I’m really enjoying this way of looking differently at fabric.
